BENCHTOP GUITAR NECK PRESS SYSTEM
DESCRIPTION
Our Guitar Neck Fret Press is a complete fretting system with a choice of Neck Caul for 6 or 7 string guitars. The press is suitable for straight or angled headstocks.
The photos illustrate the typical use when fretting a detached neck. Please note that the neck must be detached from the instrument as the press unit will not span the full width of a guitar body.
OPTIONS
The press is available in a number of options allowing it to be tailored to your preference.
OPTIONS 1 & 2 - are both complete systems including a full neck support caul with stepped heel rest for optimum support. The press is available in 2 neck caul options: 6-string guitar or 7-string guitar.
OPTION 3 - excludes the supply of a neck support caul.
OPTIONS 1, 2 & 3 include a full set of fret cauls - 75mm wide: 7.25", 9.5", 10", 12", 14", 15", 16", 17", 20" & Flat. The cauls have a flat cross section permitting a small amount of misalignment between fret and caul.
OPTION 4 - Basic Press & Frame Only
Without neck caul and without fret cauls.
This option enables flat or grooved cauls to be purchased as required.
IMPORTANT:- For option 4 only, cauls will need to be purchased from the separate product details in order for the press to function - see links further below. A Neck Support Caul can also be added from the separate detail if required.

FULL LENGTH NECK CAUL (SUBJECT TO OPTION CHOSEN)
The overall neck caul size is 58mm wide x 45mm high x 495mm long. The felt covering and rounded shoulders cushion the neck profile. The stepped section of the caul safeguards the support underneath the neck when fretting over the transitional profile at the heel.
GROOVED CAULS
These can be purchased from the separate grooved caul product details .
FLAT CROSS SECTION CAULS
These can be purchased separately from the DIY fret press page.
CHANGING CAULS
The caul is located onto the press screw using a spring retained thrust collar. The thrust collar transfers the torque from the screw into pressing force over the caul.
To remove the fret caul: pull the thrust collar downwards.
To re-fit the caul: push collar up until it engages on the end of the screw.
USE FOR OTHER NECK TYPES
The press can be adapted for use on other neck types including multiscales & bass guitar necks subject to a maximum fret length of 75mm and incorporation of a suitable neck support.
