Guitar Workstation Assembly

The workstation is constructed from marine plywood, oak, stainless steel and aluminium. The adjustable height press beam is mounted on two identical pillars and requires a small amount of assembly.

Guitar Fret Press Demonstration

The press pillars are secured to the base by quick change screws allowing easy disassembly for storage.

Guitar Fret Press Assembly Instructions

Fit the M6 x 40 capscrews into the base leaving the heads 8-10mm proud of the surface. Note that one pillar faces forward and the other faces to the rear. Check the direction required by comparing with the cross beam.

Note the orientation of the beam with reference to the caul swivel plate. One edge of the swivel plate is recessed. The recess should be positioned towards the open side of the base. (The recess is required for the tongue support mechanism clearance).

Before fully tightening the bottom pillar screws, ensure the cross beam can be raised and lowered. Clearance between the beam and pillars sides should be kept to a minimum - approx 1mm either side.

Note! When removing or attaching the cross beam, temporarily fasten the upper locking plates at the top of the pillars to avoid interfering with the assembly process. This will also ensure that the plates are correctly placed above the beam when assembled.

The press insert is attached to the screw via a spring retained collar.

The system includes angular adjustment of the insert for precise fret alignment and for use on multiscale instruments. The insert can be rotated up to 20 degrees in either direction.

Guitar Fret Press Caul Adjustment

Before setting the beam height, pre-wind the insert downwards by 1-2 turns, this will allow it to be wound back after locking the beam in position. The protective rubber strip should be placed on the fretboard and the cross beam lowered until the insert rests on top of the rubber. Ensure the beam is horizontal then lock in position using the thumb screws. Slacken the press screw and remove the rubber. Adjust all the locking plates and tighten the fixing screws.

The base incorporates central guides for the guitar support stand. A movable extension table facilitates transferring the guitar stand between the docking position and press. Clamps for locking in position underneath the press and at the docking position are provided.

The following basic carcass video demonstrates the principle of clamping, extension table support, docking position and rounded base edges for re-orientation of the complete workstation.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES FOR ACOUSTIC GUITAR

Guitar Fret Press Neck Clamp

FRETBOARD CLAMP

The clamp stops the guitar being lifted off the neck rest when the tongue support is adjusted. (Please note the wobbling is the camera tripod!).

HEEL SUPPORT JACK

Slide the jack horizontally onto the mounting post.

Adjust the screw height until the heel is contacted under light pressure.

FRETBOARD TONGUE SUPPORT & MOUNTING RAILS

To assemble the mounting rails, remove the central cover plates on each side of the bridge. The rails slot into the cross beam and are secured using allen head socket screws.

Place the tongue support onto the mounting rails ensuring the small diameter on the upper disc is guided between the rails.

Hook the support underneath the end of the fretboard tongue.

Apply light pressure to the underside of the tongue via turning the top thumb nut.

Tighten the lower thumb nut to lock the support onto the rails.

The system is capable of pressing all fret positions on a guitar.
