OVERVIEW
The jig base is made from solid ash for secure use in a bench vice without crushing the jig sides. The working height is increased thus improving posture and comfort. The set up provides maximum stability for fret slotting and prevents movement of the jig when sawing.
The fretboard can be clamped at each end with 'G' clamps or similar 'quick' clamps.
The base is fitted with a rubber grip covering for the fretboard to rest on. The rubber provides resistance against board movement from the cutting action and flexibility for the fretboard blank seating.
INCLUDED:
- Hardwood Fret Slotting Jig Base - 525mm long x 70mm wide .
- Precision Fret Scale Template Set (Over 20 Inch & Metric sizes in stock).
- Fretsaw 0.023" kerf (0.6mm) - 2.5mm Fixed Depth.
- Datum Fret Slot Locator.
- 5x Fretsaw Blades.
INCLUDED FIXED DEPTH FRETSAW
The standard jig is supplied with a 2.5mm depth fretsaw . This can be substituted for an alternative depth if preferred. (Sanding the board radius will reduce the fret slot depth at the edges of the fretboard and the 2.5mm saw leaves sufficient depth of slot for the majority of fret wire sizes).
A popular alternative is a 2.0mm saw which is suitable for flatter boards typically 15" radius and above. Please leave a note at the checkout if you would prefer the 2.0mm alternative.
5 blades are included with the saw. Each kerf is precision set to 0.6mm and 100% inspected in our workshop.
FRETBOARD BLANK CONDITION
Please note that in order for the jig to function correctly, the fretboard must be flat prior to slotting. If the fretboard already has a radius, the saw will not locate properly for marking the slots and may also cut oversize slots.
