MAKING A NEW NUT
The system provides a structured approach for making a new guitar nut from scratch. The jig gauges the nut slot depth and creates an accurate datum to work from. String spacing and nut filing adjustments can be performed off the guitar, using the exact comparison of the instrument as a reference.

NUT FILING COMBINATION SET
3-PART SET CONTENTS:
Tool #1 -  Feathered Edge String Groove Marker
Tool #2 -  Rhombus Diamond File
Tool #3 -  Pointed Oval Diamond File
 
TOOL #1 - FEATHERED EDGE STRING GROOVE MARKER
The tool is designed for creating precise marking grooves for the nut files. The tool can also be used for producing string slots for high trebles (typically .009"- 0.012") by increasing the depth of cut or by canting left and right. (Please note that the maximum scribe/groove depth achievable is 0.5mm).
 
TOOL #2 - RHOMBUS DIAMOND FILE
The file can be used for widening the string slots (typically 0.012"-0.016"). The profile is straight and cross-section is diamond making it useful for de-burring, chamfering edges and adding relief to the rear and sides of the string slots also.
 
TOOL #3 - POINTED OVAL DIAMOND FILE
The profile is tapered and cross section is oval. The tool can be used for the intermediate string slots (typically 0.016"-0.032") and the bass string slots (typically 0.032"-0.053") by canting the file left and right. Finishing each slot should be performed with short strokes of the file and attention to the best position along the file edge for the particular string gauge.
 
The diamond files are of quality USA manufacture. The included files have been selected after research and testing of the many different file profiles and cross sections available.
