The jig is a larger version of our standard slotting jig for use on bass guitars and baritone guitars. The jig will also accept our standard guitar scale templates.
 
The jig is robustly designed for use in a bench vice providing stability and a comfortable working position.

HARDWOOD SLOTTING JIG BASE
The jig base is made from 20mm thick ash and is fitted with a ribbed rubber covering for the fretboard to rest on. The rubber allows for a degree of variation in the board surface and provides friction against the cutting action.
 
For stability, we recommend that the jig is clamped in a vice. The solid jig base will facilitate this without damage or crushing of the jig sides. This will also permit soft clamps to be used over the board when cutting the slots.
 
INCLUDED FIXED DEPTH FRETSAW
The standard jig is supplied with a 2.5mm fretsaw This can be substituted for an alternative depth if preferred. (Sanding the board radius will reduce the fret slot depth at the edges of the fretboard and the 2.5mm saw leaves sufficient depth of slot for the majority of fret wire sizes). 
 
A popular alternative is a 2.0mm saw which is suitable for flatter boards typically 15" radius and above. Please leave a note at the checkout if you would prefer the 2.0mm alternative.
 
MIXED BLADE PACK
The included blade pack contains 5 blades with nominal widths and quantities as below. Please note that some variance should be expected due to manufacturing tolerances. (All blades are rounded up or down to the closest nominal size).

1x 0.5mm kerf width
3x 0.6mm kerf width
1x 0.7mm kerf width

FRETBOARD BLANK CONDITION
Please note that in order for the jig to function correctly, the fretboard must be flat prior to slotting. If the fretboard already has a radius, the saw will not locate properly for marking the slots and may also cut oversize slots.
