FRET END BEVEL FILE - Variable Angle From 0 to 35 degrees

Capable of filing any fret bevel angle from 0 to 35 degrees.

The file is mounted in a durable nylon bar that can be rotated for the bevel angle required.

The round bar provides a small void over the fret corner for the sharp burrs to pass through. This reduces build up of filings and compaction on the tool surface.

The variable angle feature is useful where strings encroach the fret ends and a steeper angle is necessary to avoid string roll.

The file angle can be locked in any position. A graduated end plate provides angular reference in 5 degree increments.

The file depth is adjustable ensuring safe use over the guitar body. Allen head socket screws are used to adjust the file extent and to clamp the file in position.

The guide block is machined and hand finished from high-quality oak. The underside radius guarantees smooth travel over the frets.

The nominal tool length is 5" (127mm).

FILE DETAIL

The file grade is 2nd cut smooth, suitable for alloy and stainless steel frets, providing high removal rate combined with a good finish. The file corners are rounded at both ends.

RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE

Use a shallow angle for filing flush @ 0-5 degrees. Then adjust to 20-25 degrees for a secondary cut. A final dress at the preferred angle can then be made. After each use, brush away any filings from the file and holder.

OPTIONS

The bar and file can also be purchased as a separate unit, for less constrained use and where reliance on visual assessment and feel of the bevel is preferred. The round bar allows the file to be tilted at any angle whilst sill providing a guide for filing extent and movement.
