FRET PRESS FOR BOLT ON GUITAR NECKS - Includes 10 Cauls & Neck Support
Self Contained Guitar Neck Fret Press - No extra tools required.
Our Guitar Neck Fret Press provides a compact fretting solution where space is at a premium. Its high mechanical advantage screw operation and absence of a lever arm allow it to be used directly on any worktop or table without the need for anchoring, whilst rubber skids provide worktop protection and stability during use.
Finite control of downward travel is provided as the caul can be stopped at any height for alignment or checking the fret seating. The fret can remain clamped for curing off glue if adhesive is being used.
Designed to be used free-standing, 4 fixing holes are provided for permanent mounting should this be preferred.
BOLT ON NECKS
The press is designed for standard bolt-on guitar necks. The press opening height and caul travel will accept the thickest part of a standard heel/neck join - typically 1" (25.4mm). This is based on the neck extension and cork being utilised underneath the heel. Thicker heels (30mm max) can be accommodated with the neck support extension removed.
The photos illustrate the typical use when fretting a detached neck. Please note that the neck must be detached from the instrument as the unit will not span the full width of a guitar body.
PRESS CAULS
The press is supplied with a full set of cauls. The cauls have a flat cross section contact surface. This ensures easy seating on the fret and affords a small degree of angular and radial misalignment between the tool and guitar. The cauls are 62mm wide and suitable for standard guitar necks. The press is not designed for bass guitar necks.
