This post concerns the assembly and basic functions of the workstand for guitar repairs & setup. For detailed information on the specific features and a comparison of the workstand versions available, please see the separate Guitar Workstand webpage.
The version of the workstand described below is utilised in the Modular Fret Press / Workstation and features a longer neck support and an additional purpose designed platform for solid body guitars.
GUITAR NECK CLAMP
A central neck clamp mechanism provides extra stability for working. The height of the clamp unit can be adjusted to suit the application or lowered clear of the neck support if not required. It is also easily detached from the workstand by releasing the thumb screws.
The clamp jaws are sprung open and clamped via thumb-wheels.
SOLID BODY GUITAR SUPPORT - MODULAR ITEM
The solid body support has an adjustable mechanism that will accommodate different neck angles and body thicknesses. Both height and angle of the support are adjustable via independent screw jacks at the heel and body positions.
UNIVERSAL GUITAR BODY SUPPORT - MODULAR ITEM
The universal guitar body support assembly comprises of a platform and two additional height blocks. Adjustment is made by rotating the platform on the central screw until the neck finds its own horizontal level along the neck support. A thumb wheel locks the support in position.
GUITAR NECK SUPPORT PLATFORM
The guitar neck support is 285mm long x 95mm wide and made from 20mm thick solid oak. The length of support is suitable for the majority of guitars however we would recommend checking that this will meet your requirements.
The neck support is covered with 3mm thick neoprene rubber. A 3mm thick cork mat is provided loose as this is a wear item.
An additional 20mm thick block is also included to increase the platform height for dreadnought instruments. This is placed on the neck platform when the extra height is required.
